What are they thinking?

There is no such thing as a perfect parent, but what are some of these people thinking?
Over the weekend in Memphis, a 3 year old was thrown from a vehicle on the interstate and died. (I don't know the details, but if no one else was seriously injured...then I almost guarantee that child wasn't in the proper child safety seating).

Earlier today I had to get gas...I noticed the car on the other side of the pump had an infant seat in the back. Almost anyone knows that infants are supposed to face the rear until they are 1...this child was no where near 1 years old. It honestly broke my heart to see this little girl...in an infant seat that was facing forward...and I truly don't believe the seat was even buckled in. It appeared to literally just be sitting in the back seat.

A few months ago while I was working, I pulled into a parking lot to find a car load of little kids...it was literally 100 degrees outside, and this adult male had the car turned off with 5 young kids in the car. First of all, there is no way they were all in their proper seating (booster seats). None of them appeared to be school aged yet...So here you have this guy with the car turned off, in 100 degrees, with none of the kids in proper seating...All I could do was give them 2 bottles of cold water I had in my little lunch box.

So, by no means am I claiming to be a great parent...But what are these people thinking? Unfortunately in this Memphis area, these things are all to common. One might say that some of these people can't afford the proper safety seats...but is there a price for the safety of your child? There are cheap seats or used seats available, so what's the deal? Anyway, I had to vent a little and express my heart ache...I just can't imagine!
