Obama-leaves out "Creator" in his speech

I received the following email this morning and wanted to share it with you...It is in regards to President Obama leaving out "Creator" in his speech yesterday where he was quoting from the Declaration of Independence. You can find a copy of the Declaration HERE. I had to go look it up for myself before I made any judgment on the issue, but it is clear that he left that out during his speech. I would hope that it wasn't intentional, but it had to have been so by either his writer or him. Check it out! The copied email starts below:

Obama Changes Declaration of Independence to Omit "Creator"

Watch the video to see this blatant disrespect for God and Christians in America
September 22, 2010

Dear Friend,

On September 17, President Barack Obama spoke to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute 33rd Annual Award Gala. During his speech - reading from a teleprompter - he quoted from the Declaration of Independence. Here is what he said: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain unalienable rights, life and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Watch the Video Here!

Obama omitted the words "by their Creator" from his speech. Why? Given the fact that he was using a teleprompter, I can only conclude that this was intentional. Either he, or his speechwriter, did not want to give credit to Almighty God. This kind of action would be in step with modern secular liberalism which is hostile to the Christian faith and hates the historical fact that America's founders revered and acknowledged God in so many ways that are indisputable, such as these words in the Declaration of Independence: "endowed by their Creator."

The best action Christians can take in response to this is to both work and pray for changes in Washington, D.C. You can start by getting everyone you know who is eligible to vote to register and vote November 2. We need more men and women who, like our founders, understand that our rights are from God and not from man.

202-224-3121

This is the phone number to Capitol Hill (202-224-3121)...I called it today, for only the 2nd time in my life. Just know that if there is legislation to be voted on, you can call and tell your Senator or Representative which way you want them to vote. Literally, the switch board was busy most of the day...so I was only able to get through to one Senator; the other Senator's line was busy every time I was able to get through the switchboard. That let's me know that a lot of people in America were calling in to voice their opinion...
If you weren't aware, today was the day that our Senators voted on a Defense Bill (funding for our military)...But, that wasn't the only thing in the bill. There were also 3 big issues "thrown" in by the Dems, which they hoped would pass and luckily didn't.
The first issue...Repealing "Don't Ask Don't Tell"-if it would have passed, then homosexuals would be allowed to openly serve in the military...which would have led to a lot of other issues, including military religious leaders not being able to voice their beliefs without ridicule, uncomfortable barrack situations, among other issues.
The second issue...putting abortion clinics on military bases and military hospitals worldwide.
The third issue...(which has nothing to do with military per se) amnesty for illegal immigration.

So, the bill didn't go through...and both Democrats and Republicans voted AGAINST this bill. So don't let the media fool you into thinking it was only the right side that voted this down. One more thing, regardless of what side you are on for these issues...they (politicians) shouldn't be allowed to throw irrelevant legislation into bills. I don't know who started this sneaky thing back in the day, but it is bull.

Values Voter Summit

(Protect Marriage • Champion Life • Strengthen the Military • Limit Government
Control Spending • Defend Our Freedoms)

Do you care about the above issues? If so, then know the following...
If you aren't aware, there is a huge summit going on in DC right now...the Values Voter Summit. It addresses a lot of the social issues that are political. You can check out this website to see who is behind the scenes, who sponsors it, who is speaking at it...
I have to quote something I just heard...this lady being interviewed (Amy Kremer of the Tea Party Express) make the following comment and I love it, "Some people may get mad at me saying this, but we aren't in the business of getting Republicans to Washington, we are in the business of getting conservatives to Washington." This is so accurate...just because someone runs under the Republican party doesn't mean they are a true conservative. That being said, most conservatives DO align more with what the Republican party is supposed to/or used to stand for. That's kind of what the Tea Party has been about...bringing awareness to Americans and holding politicians accountable (of both parties).

Here are the types of organizations that sponsor this event, and TRULY have OUR best interest at heart:
Family Research Council
American Family Association (the organization I listen to on the radio the most)
American Values
The Heritage Foundation
Liberty Council/Liberty University

Ya never know...return to church

I was talking to a dear friend today when I heard some GREAT news...this girl's father has not been to church in years (6...I believe). He recently started attending church again! We all know someone that we wish and pray would get back in church. I currently have someone I desperately wish would get back involved, but as of yet that hasn't happened...this however, gives me hope! (Before my father passed away last year, this was his story too...he returned to church after years of being away) So, don't give up on people...and this is a reminder to myself! If you happen to be that person that isn't involved in a church, then maybe it is time you return to God's house of worship!
The other very interesting part of the first mentioned story is what inspired this girl's father...
the Glenn Beck rally. Seriously! Her parents went to Washington DC to attend the rally recently. Something Glenn said hit home with this man...it was something to the extent of (and I am paraphrasing), "If you want this country to make a change, it starts with you. We have to change." The challenge to change oneself in order for our country to prosper...I think that is the root of it...a challenge! Just think if everyone in our country took this same challenge to better them-self, which in turn would help our country.
The last very interesting aspect of this whole thing is the Glenn Beck issue itself. He is a Mormon, which has been an issue for some. To my knowledge, he has not pushed his own religious affiliation...he has only expressed the need to return to God. Let's hope more people follow my friend's father and get back in church. (but to clarify, let's hope it is a Bible-based church and nothing else)

Put in perspective...

This morning was rough...and put me (along with my children) in a bad mood. My husband left for his job at 6 this morning; I have pretty much been up since 4:30 (b/c of nursing and pumping), and my oldest was up about 6:15-6:30 (which was earlier than I expected). The oldest is hitting this 2 year old stubborn/defiance stage...and frankly put, I don't like it. This could be for a number of reasons (just the 2 year old thing, a new sibling in the house, potty training)...but this morning it was over shoes. Silly huh? As a parent, I was worn out before the day really started. I hate, literally hate, having to punish my child and hate that it puts us in a bad mood.
Here's my point and what I took away from it...If I hate having to punish my kicking and screaming child, how does God feel when we do the same thing (so to speak)? How many times do we go against what he says? How many times do we get mad because we want it our way, and are stubborn and defiant? As a parent, we have to set guidelines and have to stick to our word...and God is the same way. We may go down kicking and screaming, but God wins! His ways are better and for a reason, even if we don't understand and think that it's for something silly or trivial. On another note, I only have 2 children...God has an infinite number, some who have strayed and continued to permanently defy him, and some he just has to correct but still strive to obey him. I can't fathom how He feels when he has to correct us and punish us...I have truly been bothered all day for how my morning started, for how I had to correct my 2 year old, and how the newborn was just crying away without even having a clue. All I can say is thank goodness we have a heavenly father who is patient with us, who does correct us to keep us in line, and who loves us unconditionally...even when we are kicking and screaming!

Hot topics: Quran Burning

It's been all over the news...the pastor who plans to burn the Quran/Koran on September 11th.
It's hard to know what to think on this issue. My overall conclusion, is that "extreme" of anything isn't good. Extreme dieting, extreme exercise, extreme weather, extreme food consumption, extreme drinking...catch my drift? Let's face it, Islam extremist are the ones that bombed us on 9-11, are the terrorist we are fighting, and are the ones that continue to threaten us and our country...if you've seen the tv at all you have probably witnessed them burning our American flag in the Middle East. My point, extreme isn't good!
I truly feel this pastor making headlines is in the same category. Do I agree with a lot that he has said to the media...yeah, I do. I agree that our government hasn't stood up to the Muslim world, and that the Muslim world has done a lot of damage...but I don't think burning their "holy" book is a good thing. Yes, it proves a point and makes headlines, but does it truly do any good? No, and here's why in my opinion:
1. It hurts the perception of Christianity...people outside of true Christianity are going to base their perception of Us on this guy. Let's face it, isn't that what most of us do to the Muslim world? We base our perception of them on the terrorist and extremist...
2. It hurts the advancement of Christianity...there are people risking their life to go into these Middle Eastern countries...it's dangerous enough and the people there wanting to hurt Christians don't need any more reasons. Not only that, but who wants to be a part of a "religion" that would do that?
3. Muslims are "lost" to Jesus...we need and should want the souls of the Muslim world to come to know the Jesus that died for our sins, and I'm not so sure this is the way to reach out to them.

But the one thing I actually read on another blog and thought was a great point...it shows how one person can have an effect on the world. This congregation has around 50 members, and has the whole world talking about burning the Koran. Now imagine if we could have a positive statement/issue that could do the same. We really do make a difference, each and every ONE of us. All it takes is ONE...let that ONE be you (in a positive way of course)

"Free" stuff

I know some of you clip coupons, but why?...to save money? Next question...how much money do you spend on the following per month: food, health care, housing, and your cell phone?

Fyi...I had thought about writing this blog a few weeks ago, then was reminded of this topic when I received an email today. Most everyone knows that the many people rely on our government for what we consider basic needs. I would probably agree that food, health care, and a place to stay fall into those categories. (Let me also clarify, most people may need assistance and help...but I don't think that any of the assistance programs should be longterm-the longterm assistance enables people and holds people back...in their minds, why work for it when you can get it for free?)

So, why in the world would our government offer cell phone assistance now? Yes they are convenient, but cell phones aren't a necessity. (although they feel like it in today's society). When I looked at some of the qualifications for getting this "free" government supported cell phone...it gave this list as a general rule:
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance / Section 8
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • National School Lunch (free program only)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
I just think this is ridiculous...our economy is in shambles and we keep giving "free"/taxpayer supported stuff to people (who in some cases don't contribute to our society) Here's the website to see for yourself...if you haven't seen the commercials on tv:

Silent...

This blog is an outlet for me...there are definitely things that I write on here, that I wouldn't necessarily say to people in person. My main purpose of this blog is to help inform others of information that might not be common knowledge, or that might not be on the television at night (or just to get you to think). I have truly realized that the media gives us the information that THEY want us to have, and not information that we might need to make an informed decision.
All of that being said, I truly do think that we as Christians are in a tough spot in today's society. If we say too much, we get criticized for being bigoted, for being hate-filled, and there are probably so many other things you have heard. On the other hand, what is the result if we are silent? Honestly, I think it is our society today...there are too many things that are considered "ok" today, that wouldn't have been years ago (or that aren't okay according to the Bible). We shouldn't be silent and just sit back and watch things happen, WHEN we can do something.
By no way am I saying let's go out and get in people's faces and offend them...but I truly do think it is okay to have conversations, to join groups of like mindedness, etc. So, that is one reason I started this blog. You may agree or disagree with what I say on here, but I have had so many compliments on information given. No, the majority of it doesn't originate with me...but I do feel it is my job to pass it on. I don't want to be silent...and I don't want you to be silent either. So, pray for conversations...and let God lead you in them. It can be religious based, or politically based...but if you are in-line with the Bible's teachings, then speak up. We truly need more of it these days, and with the world we live in, I think people need guidance and logic.
