One of the topics of discussion today (on the radio) was of the federal income tax...somewhere around 43% of the US population does NOT have to pay an income tax. Is that not crazy? I never knew this and honestly didn't know it was possible. I thought everyone had to pay something. Not only that, but many of these people still receive the tax breaks...so although they may not contribute to our governments income via taxes, they can receive the handouts or tax breaks (for having children, driving a hybrid, etc).
That also raises the issue...if many of these people do not have enough money to pay taxes like the rest of us, then why do politicians always claim to cut taxes on the poor...they aren't paying the federal government income tax anyway. Does that make sense?
If you look at it from the opposite percentage...only 57% of Americans are paying the taxes that our government uses to fund everything. That's just a little over 1/2 of the US helping our government run.
When you stop and think about it...the working people are the ones being "punished" if you want to call it that. At the same time, these working people are the same ones that keep our economy going...let's be honest...they are the ones buying consumer goods and helping our economy, not the other way around. I see it everyday...the people who are already on government/state healthcare that pay change to go to the doctor, to get their medicine, to get their baby formula, etc...yes, some people may truly need the help and don't make enough money at their job to pay for everything...but then there is the other group of people, who choose not to work and make money because they get everything for nearly free already (and I do mean free since they aren't paying taxes to contribute to funding the government who is providing for them).
Something to think about...it appears that instead of helping, the government is enabling!

Yea, and according to Obama, he was not going raise taxes on any one (yet)... well, starting Jan. 1, I noticed Scott's paycheck was less. I thought for sure it was going to be State tax. When I looked it up, State tax was the same to the cent... Federal Income Tax went up! I really don't like calling people liars, but really, can you call it anything else?
