Sin is like an infection...it starts off at a single sight (in terms of sin, it begins with 1 individual). Before you know it, you can't control it; the sin (and infection) starts spreading before you even notice it. If the infection goes unnoticed, it can get ugly fast. The location it originated in can get ugly, black, full of puss, etc...the same holds true for people. Before you realize it, that very person doesn't even look like them. They are ugly, dark, full of nastiness so to speak.
What do most people take to cure their infection...medicine! Although medicine isn't necessarily the answer for sin, Christ is. He can cure any sin and transform us to our clean and more pure state. As long as we don't ignore the infection of sin, deny the infection of sin, God can cure us of it. How comforting is that?!
The newest and most public example of this...the South Carolina governor. Let me first say that none of us are perfect; we all make mistakes of some sort. However, his SELFISH act of infidelity has infected sooo many others: his wife, his 4 children, his friends, his co-workers, the people of his state, Christians (as Christians we are supposed to be the exception, not the statistic...we are to truly stay focused on Jesus and not give Satan a foothold to work his nasty way into our life). Take note of this...we often think sin is not having an effect on those around us. That is a lie the Devil wants us to believe...Sin hurts everyone, but most importantly Jesus!
