another classmate deceased...why so young?

I'm 32...and in one year, my graduating high school class has now lost 3 people from it. There have been others in the past, but the three in one year seems like alot.
One (whom I was closest too in my past through sports)...died in a car accident, as well as one of her kids.
The second, undoubtedly was struck by a car as he was walking.
The third, over dose and was found dead (today I believe)

What makes #3 difficult, is that I grew up playing wiffle ball, basketball, and ping pong with him at one of the local churches family life centers. As a friend was texting me about it tonight, you wonder if you could have done something different to help alter this guys' path of destruction...granted I have seen this person once or twice since graduation, but still...

Here's the hard reality...people struggle and the devil gets his foothold. It has happened too many times in my hometown, and many others out there. This isn't the first aquaintence to die due to overdose...and the tougher part, is these people refuse to learn from the mistakes of others...they have watched other friends die from the very same thing in the past. When will people learn...drugs destroy you and the people around you.

So...as with many things whether it be drug addiction, any addiction, gun violence, etc...
although maybe cliche at times...the only answer is a transformation through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
It literally makes me sick to see the devil win, another family destroyed, and hearts broken. I didn't know this guys' parents very well, but as a parent now...I can not imagine what that phone call is like, the shame, guilt, embarrassment, heart break, etc they must feel...without naming names, pray for them and the others going through similar situations.

Here's the weird guilt on my end...I have never experienced that. I have the complete opposite...I LOVE Jesus and He alone has transformed my life. I have joy, peace, and love like I don't deserve...and yet others are so lost and lonely, that they move in the complete opposite direction.
