Groundhogs Day...repeat

Tuesday I witnessed something that literally brought tears to my eyes as I was working. While waiting in a doctor's office, a middle-aged couple came in to see the doctor. The woman went to the bathroom and as she was finishing up, her (I'm assuming) husband told her to wash her hands and dry them with the paper towel. No big deal right?
Then, it all happened again within a couple of minutes. She said she needed to go to the bathroom, but wasn't sure where it was. He told her which door, she did her business, came out to him asking if she washed her hands...then she asked if he had seen the doctor yet. He told her no, and that the nurses would call them soon through the door.
And then you guessed it...this routine started all over again. As she walked to the opposite end of the waiting room where the bathroom was located, she wasn't sure which door the bathroom was in. She said, "It says no smoking, which one is it?" Everything from that point repeated itself yet again...and in a patient manner, the man answered her concerns.
My heart started breaking and I couldn't get myself to snap out of it. Obviously for those of you who know me, I started reminiscing of my father's battle with dementia. This poor woman, who looked to be in her 60's...repeated this process atleast 6 times within a 20 minute period. Even as I was backing out of the parking lot, I saw this woman go back into the bathroom.
Dementia is a tough disease to deal with...
