Trials & Temptations...

My church "small group" is going through a study on the book of James (from the Bible). As I was reading through 'Be Mature: Growing up in Christ' (based on the book of James)...I jotted down a few points to share. Here are the highlights:

~Trials may be tests sent by God, or they may be temptations sent by Satan and encouraged by our own fallen nature.

~When our circumstances are difficult, we may find ourselves complaining against God, questioning His love, and resisting His will. At this point, Satan provides us with an opportunity to escape the difficulty. This opportunity is temptation.

~No temptation appears as temptation; it always seems more alluring than it really is.

~Process of sin: desire, deception, disobedience, death

~God's gifts are always better than Satan's bargains.

In summary...we need to be aware that God ALWAYS has our best interest at heart. He wants us to succeed. He wants us to win, not fail. When Satan enters the picture, he wants us to fail and turn from God. That is his ultimate goal...to separate us from God. So take this as warning, the Devil is on the prowl. When going through difficult times, look toward God.
